SUNNY FIRST DAY AT IMOLA
9-5-2014, Imola (Italy)
Fabio Massei has scored a very promising fourth place in today’s first two free practice European Superstock 1000 sessions on a sunny and warm – with air temperatures around 25 degrees and track temperatures just below 50 degrees - Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola in Italy. The EAB Racing Team rider was half a second slower as time fastest Lorenzo Salvadori on the Kawasaki ZX-10R. Like at Assen also the difference between Massei and the other Ducati 1199 Panigale R’s is very small, which gives a lot of confidence for the Italian and his team.
Fabio Massei: “For sure it was a very positive first day here at Imola but I know I can do better and therefor I’m really looking forward to tomorrow. My team has done a good job and the bike feels good so we are ready for the final free practice and the single Superstock 1000 qualification.”
Alex Schacht had a harder day at Imola in his very first visit to the track with the Superstock 1000 Ducati 1199 Panigale R. The Danish has still some problems with the movement of the bike. Moreover, Imola is a track that doesn’t suits his riding style quite well.
Alex Schacht: “It was not an easy day so I can’t be satisfied after today. But we know where we can improve. At the moment the gap to the fastest time is 3,5 seconds and that worries me more than eighteenth on the provisional grid. There are some really fast wildcard rider over here en they are familiar with the circuit for many years. Due to one reason or another Imola is always a hard track for me. Hopefully that will change tomorrow as well!”
