9-5-2014, Imola (Italy)

EAB Racing Team’s Fabio Massei will start tomorrow’s third European Superstock 1000 race at Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola in Italy from pole position. It is the first pole position for Massei in his Superstock career and the first pole for EAB Racing Team since the switch from Honda to Ducati last winter. Only Lorenzo Salvadori (+ 0.031) and Ondrej Jezek (+ 0.356) were able to follow the rider from Rome in today’s qualification sessions. Leandro Mercado, fourth fastest, follows already at 1.284 seconds from the EAB Racing Team rider.

Fabio Massei: “What can I say? I’m incredible happy with my first pole position and the first pole for EAB Racing Team. We knew we had the speed to fight for the first position at Aragon and Assen but we had back luck over there. Now everything was perfect and we were able to show us true potential. But of course, the race is tomorrow, so we have to stay focused and calm. But to be honest, this taste very good and gives us a lot of motivation for Sunday. Hopefully we can fight for the win in front of my home crowd. I’m ready to go!”

Alex Schacht had a hard day at the office as he crashed out of today’s European Superstock 1000 qualification. He has to start tomorrow’s race thereby from 23th on the grid. Luckily Schacht escaped without injury and is ready for the challenge in his third European Superstock 1000 race.
